Sanborn Firefighters Busy On Wednesday

Sanborn, Iowa — Sanborn firefighters were extra busy on Wednesday, as, besides helping Hartley at two different fire calls, they also had two calls of their own.

Sanborn Fire Chief Randy Lyman says a woman was burning leaves and the fire got into her hedge. The firefighters made short work of that fire, and about 5:00, they were paged to the first of the Hartley calls. They sent a contingent of firefighters to the other Hartley call too.

Lyman says they also responded to a call in their district in which someone was burning sticks next to a garage and the fire started burning the wood siding at the bottom of the garage. He says they were able to put that one out fairly quickly as well.

He says of the two Sanborn area fires, they were at the first one only a few minutes, but at the second one about a half an hour.
