Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley teen was ticketed after an accident Saturday afternoon on Highway 60, north of Sibley.
Deputies say the accident happened around 3:00 Saturday afternoon when a 2006 Chevy, driven by 16-year old Stephanie Vipond of Sibley was westbound on 130th Street. According to the accident report, Vipond crossed the northbound lanes of Highway 60, and while attempting to cross the southbound lanes, pulled into the path of a southbound 2005 Chrysler minivan, driven by 48-year old Steven Mulder of Sibley. Vipond reportedly told deputies that she failed to see the minivan before attempting to cross the southbound lanes.
No injuries were reported in the crash, but deputies estimate damage to Mulder’s minivan to be about $2,000, with Vipond’s Chevy sustaining an estimated $1500 damage.
Deputies say Vipond was ticketed for Failure To Yield.
