Spencer Woman Faces Felony Drug Charges After Sheldon Stop

Sheldon, Iowa — A Spencer woman has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 56-year-old Tamara Ruotolo of Spencer is accused of the possession of drugs for the third or subsequent time. She was arrested on Thursday.

In his statement, the officer says Ruotolo was stopped for multiple equipment violations. He says the odor of THC was smelled coming from Ruotolo. He says they also located a THC pen, a container of THC wax, a methamphetamine pipe, and a container with meth and a cut straw.

Ruotolo was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison on each count. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on December 12th.

At last report, Ruotolo remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
