Three Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Sioux Center

Sioux Center, Iowa — Three people were taken to a hospital after a crash on Friday night near Sioux Center.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that just after 9:30 p.m., 49-year-old Nichole Geiwitz of Orange City was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound on 390th Street, a mile east of Sioux Center. They say 59-year-old Randal Meyer of Sioux Center was driving a 2016 Honda Odyssey southbound on Hickory Avenue. We’re told Geiwitz failed to stop for the stop sign on 390th and struck the Meyer Honda in the intersection.

Geiwitz, Meyer, and a passenger in the Honda were transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health.

The Chevrolet and the Honda each sustained about $15,000 in damage.

Geiwitz was cited on a charge of failure to obey a stop sign/yield the right of way and failure to provide proof of financial liability – accident-related.

The Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Ambulance, and Sioux Center Fire Department assisted the sheriff’s office.
