Tractor Damaged In Fire Near Boyden

Boyden, Iowa — A tractor was damaged in a fire on Monday, October 21, 2024, near Boyden.

According to Boyden Fire Chief Chris Starkenburg, at about 5:30 p.m., the Boyden Fire Department was called to the report of an oil fire in the engine compartment of a tractor near 3322 Kingbird Avenue, a mile east and a little over a mile south of Boyden.

The chief says the fire department saw a little flame under the hood as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.

Starkenburg says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire appeared to be a malfunction under the hood.

Chief Starkenburg reports that there was moderate damage.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
