Victim Of Fatal Crash Last Month Near Brunsville Was From Orange City

Brunsville, Iowa — The victim of a fatal crash in Plymouth County in November has been identified, and he was from Orange City.

According to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, the victim of the crash on November 20th was 79-year-old David Raymond Ruden of Orange City.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office tells us that at approximately 7:20 p.m. that evening, they received a report of a field fire near a rural intersection two miles northwest of Brunsville. When officials arrived at the scene, A pickup truck was located, fully engulfed in flames.

They say that during the recovery operation, Ruden was discovered deceased in the driver’s seat. An investigation indicates that Ruden had left the roadway and traveled for some distance in the ditch before getting stuck on the roadway embankment. The vehicle then started on fire. For unknown reasons, Ruden was unable to escape the vehicle, says the sheriff’s office.

They tell us the vehicle was totally destroyed.

The body of the driver was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny to determine identity.
