19 Students Escape Injury When Their School Bus Collides With A Car Near Primghar

Primghar, Iowa — No injuries were reported Monday morning when a car collided with a school bus south of Primghar.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened shortly after 10:00 Monday morning when a 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by 18-year-old Jaden Bobzien of Primghar was southbound on Highway 59, near the intersection of 420th Street. Troopers say a Bluebird school bus from South O’Brien Schools, which was loaded with students, and driven by 67-year-old Verlyn Regelin of Sutherland, was northbound on Highway 59.

Troopers say the road was partially snow covered at the time of the crash, with blowing snow limiting visibility. Bobzien reportedly told troopers she lost control, crossed the center line, and collided with the school bus, before coming to rest in the west ditch.

According to the Iowa State Patrol there were 19 students on the bus at the time of the collision, all of whom escaped injury, as did both drivers.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
