Archer Teen Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash Near Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — A two-vehicle crash southeast of Sheldon Tuesday night sent an Archer teen to the hospital.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened about 9:30 Tuesday night when a 2008 Ford Taurus, driven by 20-year-old Grace Anne Hoogers of rural Sheldon, was southbound on Nettle Avenue and stopped to wait for oncoming traffic before turning into her driveway at 3320 Nettle Avenue. Another southbound vehicle, a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by 17-year-old Mariel Grace Feekes of Archer, was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the Hoogers car.

Troopers say Feekes was transported to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team.

Feekes was reportedly ticketed for Failure to Stop in an Assured Clear Distance as a result of the crash.

Troopers say both vehicles were totaled in the mishap.
