Ashton Man Arrested In Connection With Alleged Sexual Assault

Primghar, Iowa — An Ashton man has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault at a Primghar residence this past July.

According to court documents, on July 28th of this year, 29-year-old Matthew Schoneman of Ashton is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage victim against her will at a Primghar residence.

Court documents indicate that evidence was collected the night of the alleged incident, the analysis of which, along with the victim’s statement, led to charges of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C Felony, being filed against Schoneman on November 26th. Online court records indicate that a warrant was issued for his arrest on November 30th, with him being taken into custody by an O’Brien County Sheriff’s Deputy on Thursday, December 2nd.

According to online court records, Schoneman is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing in the case on December 13th in O’Brien County Magistrate Court. Schoneman has also been ordered to have no contact with his alleged victim, according to court records.
