Doon Fire Department Puts Out Pasture Fire

Doon, Iowa — Some pasture land was burned in a fire on Friday, March 13, 2020, near Doon.

According to Doon Fire Chief Blake Van Bemmel, about 4:50 p.m., the Doon Fire Department was called to the report of a pasture fire near 2677 240th Street, a mile and a half north and about a mile and a half west of Doon.

The chief says the fire department saw a decent-sized area of the pasture on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and fire flappers to fight the fire.

Van Bemmel says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Bemmel reports that the damage was limited to an area of pasture grass about 500 feet per side.

He says the 15 firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 15 minutes.
