Doon, Iowa — A Doon man is charged with animal cruelty after running over his neighbor’s dog.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, they received a report of a person that had intentionally run over a dog with his vehicle in Doon.
Deputies say evidence at the scene and a follow-up investigation led to 55-year-old Darwin Vink of Doon being charged with animal cruelty, which is an aggravated misdemeanor. Authorities say the dog died as a result of the injuries suffered when run over.
Vink and the dog’s owner had reportedly been involved in an argument prior to the incident.
