Everly Teen Injured In Tuesday Evening Crash

Sheldon, Iowa — An Everly teen was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening east of Sheldon.

According to the Crash Report from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap occurred at the intersection of Highway 18 and Oak Hill Avenue, about one-and-one-half miles east of the 18 and 60 junction. Deputies say 45-year-old Daniel Grooters of Sanborn was eastbound on Highway 18 in a 2007 Ford F250 pickup truck, and had slowed to make a left turn onto Oak Hill Avenue, when his truck was struck from behind by an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 19-year-old Seth Kosters of Everly. Kosters reportedly told authorities that he had been talking to a passenger, and failed to notice the Grooters truck.

Kosters was taken by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

Damage to Kosters’ Chevy was estimated at $10,000, while damage to Grooters’ pickup was estimated at $500.

Authorities say they cited Kosters for Failure to Maintain Control in connection with the crash.
