Friday Night Crash Sends Sheldon Woman To Hospital

Sheldon, Iowa — A two-vehicle crash in Sheldon late Friday night sent a Sheldon woman to the hospital.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the mishap took place shortly before 10:30 Friday night at the intersection of Highway 60 and McKinley Avenue in south Sheldon.

Troopers say a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by 61-year-old Anna Margaret Roth of Sheldon was exiting Highway 60 and failed to stop at the stop sign at the end of the offramp, pulling onto McKinley Avenue, into the path of a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup, driven by 36-year-old Madison Mark Dykstra of Sheldon.

According to the report, Roth’s PT Cruiser came to rest in the ditch on the east side of the roadway. Troopers say Roth had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Sheldon Fire Department, and was then taken to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by SCAT, for what the report calls non-incapacitating injuries.

Troopers termed Roth’s PT Cruiser a total loss, with damage to Dykstra’s pickup estimated at $3,000.

Roth was reportedly cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way.
