Hawarden Woman Accused Of Taking Merchandise From Hawarden Bomgaars

Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden woman has been arrested on theft charges after an incident in Hawarden.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Hawarden Police Department, 19-year-old Samantha Mackie of Hawarden is accused of stealing merchandise in May. She was arrested on Thursday, June 8th.

In his statement, the officer states that Mackie was observed by multiple Bomgaars employees taking between $1500 and $10,000 in merchandise from the Bomgaars store without paying for the items.

Mackie was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony. If convicted, Mackie could face up to five years in prison.

She faces arraignment on July 3rd in Sioux County Court.

At last report, Mackie remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $5000 bond.
