Hull Teen Injured In Single Vehicle Crash

Hull, Iowa — A Hull teen was taken to the hospital after crashing her car northeast of Hull Tuesday night.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, shortly after 10:15 Tuesday evening, 16-year-old Mackenzie Balsley of Hull was southbound on Ironwood Avenue, at the intersection with 300th Street. Balsley reportedly told troopers that she lost control of her 2008 Toyota Avalon due to going too fast on the gravel road surface. Troopers say after losing control, Balsley’s car entered the west ditch, and struck a utility pole.

According to the accident report, Balsley was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by Hull Rescue for treatment of minor injuries.

Damage to Balsley’s Toyota was estimated at $10,000, while damage to the utility pole, which is owned by Northwest REC, is estimated at $1500.

Troopers say she was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
