Lake Park Woman Dies In UTV Mishap

Ocheyedan, Iowa — A Lake Park woman is dead following a mishap with a UTV late Saturday afternoon.

According to a release from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, about 4:15 Saturday afternoon they received a report of a rollover accident on Warbler Avenue, one half mile north of Highway 9. The person who reported the crash indicated that there was one female passenger who was injured.

Deputies say 48-year-old Christopher Michael Bosma of Lake Park was driving a 2014 Polaris Ranger 900XP UTV eastbound on the Ed Winkel Memorial Trail and turned north onto Warbler Avenue. According to the report, Bosma then allegedly accelerated aggressively, and his female passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

According to authorities, the female passenger was transported to the Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley by the Ocheyedan Ambulance, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities identify the victim as 34-year-old Kelsie Kae Sturm, of Lake Park.

Deputies say the crash remains under investigation.

The Ocheyedan Ambulance, Sibley Ambulance, Harris Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene.
