Le Mars Woman Taken To Hospital After Crash

The Orange City Police Department reports that about 11:15 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, 60-year-old Connie Ruggles of Le Mars was driving a 2007 Dodge pickup northbound on Albany Place Southeast. Sixty-four year-old Jerry Den Hartog of Orange City was also northbound on Albany in a 1995 Ford pickup, but in the center turning lane. The police report that 35-year-old Jamie Fluit of Doon was southbound on Albany in a 2009 Ford pickup.

The report says that Ruggles lost control of her pickup and struck the other two pickups. The report does mention the road conditions were snowy at the time.

The Orange City Ambulance took Ruggles to Orange City Health System Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Ruggles’ Dodge pickup sustained $8600 in damages, and Fluit’s Ford pickup sustained $7500 in damages, totaling both vehicles. Den Hartog’s Ford pickup was not damaged. A light pole owned by the city of Orange City was destroyed too. It was valued at $500.

The police report Ruggles was charged with failure to maintain control.
