Man Arrested After Shots Fired In George

George, Iowa — A man was arrested in George on Wednesday, March 8 after he allegedly fired a gun in the city limits.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:04 a.m., their emergency center received several calls from residents around the 200 Block of East Minnesota Avenue in George, reporting gunshots. While investigating these reports, deputies came to believe the gunshots came from the home at 214 East Minnesota Avenue, after a deputy allegedly saw 36-year-old Daniel J Gisolf standing by a back door holding a rifle. Lyon County Sheriff Stewart Vander Stoep says that Gisolf was allegedly just shooting in the air, and had allegedly been drinking.

Deputies made contact with Gisolf, and placed him under arrest.  He was transported to the Lyon County Jail and was charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm and Discharging Weapons in city limits.
