Rock Valley, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man is in the Minnehaha County Jail in that city and faces a laundry list of charges from multiple jurisdictions after a pursuit that started in Rock Valley on Saturday, October 23rd.
According to the Rock Valley Police Department, 34-year-old Todd Allen Gilger of Sioux Falls faces several misdemeanor charges and two felonies.
Rock Valley Police Chief Monte Warburton says the chase actually started in their parking lot in the 3:00 p.m. hour, after an incident there.
Warburton says they have asked a judge to issue warrants on charges of assault on persons in certain occupations (basically assault on a peace officer, says Warburton), which is a class D felony; felony eluding, which is also a class D felony; and misdemeanor charges of interference with official acts, careless driving, reckless driving, two counts of unsafe passing, speeding for 97 mph in a 55 mph zone, failure to use a seatbelt, driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway, unsafe backing on a highway, speeding for 30 mph in a 20 mph zone, passing on a grade or hill, passing contrary to highway sign or marking, failure to obey traffic control device, failure to obey stop sign, and possession of a controlled substance.
Warburton says those were the charges from the Rock Valley Police Department, but Gilger will probably face charges in Lyon County and Minnehaha County, South Dakota as well.
