UPDATE: Motorcyclist Airlifted To Hospital After Primghar Collision

Primghar, Iowa — A Storm Lake man who was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital following a traffic crash in Primghar this past Saturday has now passed away.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 69-year-old William Keller has died from the injuries he received when his 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle struck a pickup whose driver had failed to see a stop sign, and pulled into the path of Keller’s motorcycle. The crash took place at the intersection of Highway 59 and B40 in Primghar.

Keller, who authorities say was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to MercyOne Medical Center in Primghar, then airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital and University Medical Center in Sioux Falls where he succumbed to his injuries.

The three occupants of the pickup were treated for minor injuries.

Primghar, Iowa —  A Storm Lake man sustained serious injuries Saturday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup at a Primghar intersection.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened about 3:20 pm Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 59 and B40 in Primghar.

Troopers say 50-year-old Kevin Howes from Nora Springs, Iowa was eastbound on B40, driving a 2008 Dodge pickup. As Howes approached the intersection with Highway 59 he reportedly did not see the stop sign and drove directly into the path of a southbound 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 69-year-old William Keller of Storm Lake.

Keller was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the accident but still sustained serious injuries, according to the Iowa State Patrol and was transported to MercyOne Medical Center in Primghar, then was airlifted to Avera McKennon Hospital and University Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Troopers say Howes and passengers in his vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Primghar Ambulance Team and the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
