Ocheyedan Man Arrested, Facing Felony Charge After Disturbance

Ocheyedan, Iowa — An Ocheyedan man is in jail in Sibley after a disturbance in Ocheyedan on Saturday, October 23rd.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s office, their deputies arrested 41-year-old Travis Lee Dirks of Ocheyedan on charges of Dominion/Control of Firearm/Offensive Weapon by Felon, a Class D Felony and Harassment 1st Degree, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

Court records say the victim, who is a family member, stated they saw Dirks holding a shotgun and he allegedly threatened to shoot them with it. The victim feared for their life and left the house. The incident was then reported to the sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials tell us Dirks was transported and booked into the Osceola County Jail where, at last report, he was being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources enforcement bureau assisted at the scene.
