One Injured in Three Vehicle Accident

Lyon Sheriff Facebook HeaderGeroge, Iowa — A rural George man was injured in a three vehicle accident on Sunday, February 21st.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 8:49 am on Sunday, 37-year-old Timothy Blankespoor of George was driving a 1989 Buick 98 westbound on 210th Street, west of George. Seventeen-year-old Berry Nason of George was following Blankespoor in a 2006 Hyundai Tuscon. 18-year-old Tyler Minsaas of Canton, South Dakota was driving a 2005 Buick LeSabre behind Nason. According to the report, Blankespoor approached Ironwood Avenue he began to slow and signaled to turn south onto Ironwood. He was stopped on the roadway waiting for an eastbound vehicle to pass. The report continues that Nason did not see that Blankespoor had stopped, Nason ran off the road to the right into the north ditch to avoid Blankespoor. Minsaas was also not aware that Blankespoor was stopped waiting to turn and ran into the back end of Blankespoor.

Both Blankespoor’s and Minsaas’ vehicles were a total loss.

Blankespoor was transported to Sanford Rock Rapids by private vehicle for observation.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the George Fire and Rescue.
