One Person Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Paullina

Paullina, Iowa — One person was taken to the hospital after an accident near Paullina on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 4:00 p.m., someone, identified only by the fact that their driver’s license was issued in Nebraska, was driving a 2001 Mazda eastbound on Highway 10, about four miles west of Paullina.

According to the report, the vehicle crossed the center line and drifted onto the opposite or westbound shoulder, then overcorrected, crossed the eastbound lane again, and entered the ditch.

The Paullina Ambulance took the driver to Orange City Health System Hospital.

The trooper says the Mazda sustained about $10,000 in damages, which was enough to total the vehicle.

The investigation into the accident continues, according to State Patrol personnel.
