Orange City Man Injured In Rollover Crash

Alton, Iowa — An Orange City man was taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a single-vehicle crash in Alton early Thursday morning (July 16th).

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 7:00 Thursday morning they investigated an accident that happened at the intersection of Highway 10 and Jefferson Avenue in Alton. According to the report, 49-year-old Stephen Van Grouw, of Orange City, was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer southbound on Jefferson Avenue. Deputies say Van Grouw failed to stop for the stop sign at Highway 10, lost control of the vehicle, entered the southwest ditch and rolled.

Van Grouw was transported by the Alton Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of minor injuries.

Deputies estimate damage to Van Grouw’s Explorer at approximately $4,000.

Van Grouw was reportedly cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Alton Ambulance, Alton Fire Department, Orange City Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
