Orange City Man Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash

Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City man was injured early this afternoon (Wednesday, June 30th) in a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Central Avenue and Northeast 7th Street in Orange City.

According to the accident report filed by the Orange City Police Department, the mishap occurred around 12:40 pm when a 2015 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 77-year-old Carolyn Roths of Sioux Falls was eastbound on 7th Street Northeast and stopped for the stop sign at the intersection with Central Avenue. Police say Roths then pulled into the path of a northbound 2001 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by 79-year-old Harlan Van Roekel of Orange City. Van Roekel told police he had been unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.

Police say Van Roekel was taken to the Orange City Area Health System hospital by ambulance following the mishap.

Authorities estimate damage to Roths’ SUV at $3,500 and damage to Van Roekel’s truck at $3,000

Roths was reportedly cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.
