Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Orange City on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
The Orange City Police Department reports that about 8:15 a.m., 31-year-old Joshua Johnson of Orange City was driving a 2017 Chevy pickup eastbound on Eleventh Street Southeast in southeast Orange City. Sixty-four-year-old Connie Doughan of Orange City was westbound in a 2015 Ford Fusion.
The report says that Johnson told the officer that he had just gotten off work on the night shift and had just dropped his child off at school. He says he was driving home and must have dozed off. The officer believes that’s when Johnson crossed over into the other lane and struck the Doughan vehicle.
The Orange City Ambulance took Doughan to Orange City Health System Hospital.
Johnson’s Chevy pickup sustained $25,000 in damages, and Doughan’s Ford Fusion sustained $10,000 in damages.
Johnson was charged with failure to maintain control.
