Pair Of 18-Year-Olds Face Felony Charges In Orange City Case

Orange City, Iowa — Orange City Police have arrested a pair of 18-year-olds on felony charges in connection with a burglary that took place in Orange City Sunday, October 11th.

According to information released by the Orange City Police Department, on October 11th 18-year-old Katelynn Severson, of Orange City, allegedly entered an Orange City residence and copied numbers from the victim’s debit card. Then Severson and 18-year-old Maria Powell, of Amarillo, Texas, are accused of using the card number to make several purchases, including hotel reservations at the Hampton Inn in Orange City, and the Red Roof Inn at Council Bluffs.

Orange City Police arrested the pair on Friday (October 16th), and charged both suspects with Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, which is a Class D Felony. In addition, authorities say Severson was also charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, which is also a Class D Felony.

As of noon Monday (October 19th) the pair remained in the Sioux County Jail.
