Pedestrian Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Gaza

Gaza, Iowa — An eighteen-year-old Primghar pedestrian was taken to the hospital after an accident near Gaza on Monday, May 20, 2019.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:20 a.m., 60-year-old Lynnette Hedinger of Primghar was driving a 2009 Chevy westbound on 430th Street, four miles south and two east of Primghar.

The report says that Hedinger had turned onto 430th Street from the Tabor Avenue intersection. It says she continued to accelerate up the hill, but when she crested the hill, she located a pedestrian in her lane of travel. The pedestrian, eighteen-year-old Jordan Scott of Primghar was wearing gray sweatpants and gray sweatshirt blending in with the color of the roadway. The report says he was also wearing headphones and was walking westbound near the center of the road, but slightly in the westbound lane. According to the officer, Hedinger struck the pedestrian with the driver’s side headlights, driver side mirror, and the windshield of the vehicle.

Medical aid was given to Scott until he was transported to the Mercy One Primghar site by the Primghar Ambulance.

The officer also states that Scott has a medical condition that may have complicated his understanding of acceptable locations to walk.

Hedinger’s Chevy sustained $3000 in damages.

No charges were filed.
