Rock Rapids Accident Sends Woman To Hospital

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids woman was taken to a hospital after an accident in Rock Rapids on Monday morning.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, about 8:05 a.m., 69-year-old James Trei of Rock Rapids was driving a 2009 Ford F250 van northbound on South Adams Street and was attempting to cross Highway 9 (that’s First Avenue) and was struck by 48-year-old Angela Brenneman of Rock Rapids, who was driving a 2017 Ford Expedition eastbound on the highway.

The accident report says Brenneman struck Trei after he allegedly failed to yield from the stop sign.

The Lyon County Ambulance took Brenneman to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.

Trei’s vehicle sustained about $7000 in damages, while Brenneman’s was considered a total loss.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Rock Rapids Fire Department also assisted on the scene.
