Rock Rapids Teen Airlifted To Sioux Falls After Crash In Hull

Hull, Iowa — A Rock Rapids teen was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital in the aftermath of a crash in Hull early Wednesday morning.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Wednesday, August 7th, at approximately 3:20 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection on 7th Street and Linden Street in Hull.

Deputies say 18-year-old Kaytana Heimark, of Rock Rapids, was driving a 2004 Honda Accord westbound on 7th Street when she failed to stop for the stop sign at Linden Street, drove over a curb, crossed a lawn and struck a residence at 1703 Linden Street.

Authorities say Heimark was transported by the Hull Ambulance to Sioux Center Health, and later flown by helicopter to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls for further treatment of her injuries. The homeowner was inside the residence at the time of the accident and was not inured.

The Honda sustained approximately $6,000 in damage. The residence sustained approximately $30,000 in damage, according to authorities.

According to law enforcement, alcohol is believed to be a factor.  They say the crash remains under investigation.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hull Fire Department, Hull Ambulance and Rock Valley Police Department.
