Rock Valley Woman Taken To Hospital After Collision

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley woman was taken to a hospital after an accident on Wednesday, October 30th near Rock Valley.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:10 p.m., 15-year-old Ricky Koenen of Rock Valley was driving a 1976 John Deere 4630 farm tractor pulling a rake eastbound on 360th Street, five miles south of Rock Valley. They report that 56-year-old Mary Zinnel of Rock Valley was driving a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan the other direction — westbound — on 360th Street. Koenen began to cross a bridge and Zinnel sideswiped the rake.

The Rock Valley Ambulance took Zinnel to Hegg Health Center Avera. Her injuries were described as “minor.”

The Ford sustained about $5,000 in damage. The rake sustained about $6,000 in damage.

They tell us Koenen was cited on a charge of failure to yield half of the roadway.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Fire Department, and the Rock Valley Ambulance Squad assisted with the response to the accident.
