Sanborn Man Faces Felony Contraband Charge After Arrest

Primghar, Iowa — A Sanborn man faces a felony charge after he was allegedly found in possession of drug items in the jail.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sanborn Police Department, 20-year-old Johnathon Emmons of Sanborn was arrested on Sunday, April 30th.

In his statement, the officer states that during the booking process for another charge, a scan was conducted and a small spoon and a round metal container with a waxy substance were found on Emmons. The officer says the substance tested positive for marijuana.

Emmons was charged with possession of contraband in a correctional facility, a class D felony. If convicted, Emmons could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Monday, May 22nd.

At last report, Emmons remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar.
