Sanborn Woman Faces Felony Charge After Arrest, Booking

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Sanborn woman is behind bars in Rock Rapids, accused of bringing meth into a correctional facility, which is a felony.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s office, 28-year-old Christine Larson was arrested on Saturday. The deputy’s report says he made contact with Larson in the Grand Falls Casino parking lot. He says she had a valid arrest warrant out of O’Brien County, so he took her into custody. When he did so, he says he advised her that if she had any controlled substances on her person it would be best for her to admit it now before she gets into the jail, as before she enters the jail, such an offense may be a misdemeanor, but inside the jail it would be a felony.

The deputy says Larson told him repeatedly that she didn’t have any. But he says that after the arrest and transport to the jail, jail staff was changing her into jail clothing when a clear plastic baggy fell from her clothing, and its contents tested to be methamphetamine.

In addition to her court situation in O’Brien County, Larson now faces a class D felony count of possession of contraband in a correctional institution. If convicted of a class D felony, Larson could face up to five years in prison and a fine of between $750 and $7500, according to Iowa code.
