Second Alleged Car Thief Arrested

Orange City, Iowa — A Rock Valley man has been arrested by Sioux County authorities on a warrant charging him with felony theft.

Court records indicate that 42-year-old James Russell Ellis was arrested for the part he allegedly played in the theft, from a rural Orange City residence, of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, back on January 14th.

Ellis’ alleged accomplice in that incident, Stephanie Droog, was arrested on a warrant charging 2nd Degree Theft, on January 22nd in South Dakota. Sioux County Jail records indicate that Ellis was arrested in South Dakota on January 28th, and housed in the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux Falls until he was picked up by a Sioux County Deputy and transported back to the Sioux County Jail. According to Sioux County Jail Records, Ellis has been released on bond, pending a court appearance. As of Thursday afternoon (January 30th) Droog was still being held in the Sioux County Jail.

Both Ellis and Droog are charged with 2nd Degree Theft, which is a Class D Felony.
