UPDATE WITH ADDITIONAL CHARGES: Sheldon Man Charged With Sexual Abuse

Sheldon, Iowa — More charges have now been filed against a Sheldon man who was charged earlier this week with multiple felony crimes.

62-year-old Max Lavern McHugh was originally charged with four counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse for allegedly inappropriately touching the genital area of a child under the age of twelve on multiple occasions between March 1st and July 10th of this year.

On Thursday (August 27th) three additional charges were filed against McHugh. In addition to the original charges, he is now accused of two counts of Lascivious Acts With a Child -Solicitation, which is a Class D Felony; and one count of Possession of Media Exploiting a Minor – 1st Offense, which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

A Preliminary Hearing in the case is scheduled for September 7th in O’Brien County Magistrate Court.

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man faces four felony counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse for allegedly abusing a child.

According to court records obtained by KIWA, 62-year-old Max Lavern McHugh of Sheldon was arrested by Sheldon Police on Tuesday, August 25th. McHugh is accused of inappropriately touching the genital area of the alleged victim, who is under the age of twelve, on multiple occasions between March 1 and July 10 of this year.

Online court records indicate that charges of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse were filed against McHugh on Friday (August 21, 2020). A warrant for his arrest was issued Monday (August 22, 2020), and he was taken into custody on Tuesday. He faces four counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse, which is a Class B Felony.
