Sheldon Man, Rock Rapids Woman Taken To Hospital After Crash

Doon, Iowa — A Sheldon man and a Rock Rapids woman were taken to the hospital after an accident near Doon on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 3:00 p.m., 67-year-old Leroy Boone of Sheldon was driving a 2015 Ford van northbound on Highway 75 near A52, three miles east of Doon. They say 43-year-old Mandy Davis of Rock Rapids was also northbound behind Boone on 75 in a 2005 Dodge SUV.

The report says that Davis was passing Boone and failed to keep in her lane, sideswiping the Boone vehicle. The officer also alleges Davis passed contrary to signs and markings.

The Lyon County Ambulance took both Boone and Davis to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital Hospital in Rock Rapids.

Both Boone’s Ford van and Davis’s Dodge SUV were totaled in the crash, to the tune of at least $8000 in damage, each.

As of the time of the report, no charges had been filed.
