Sheldon Man Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sheldon, Iowa– A Sheldon man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sheldon on Friday, November 11, 2022.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that at about 11:40 a.m., 54-year-old Virgil Frahm of Sheldon was driving a 2018 GMC pickup northbound on 4th Avenue, in Sheldon. Two parked vehicles were struck in the accident, a 2014 Chevy Equinox and a 2003 Buick Park Avenue.

The report says that Frahm suffered a medical episode causing him to become unconscious, losing control of the vehicle. The Frahm pickup veered to the right, side-swiping the parked Chevy along the passenger side. The Chevy was legally parked on the road by 711 4th Avenue. The Frahm pickup then struck a utility pole, destroying it. The pickup continued northbound on 4th Avenue, where it struck the parked Buick on the left rear side. The Buick had also been legally parked, at 620 4th Avenue. The collision caused the parked Buick to spin, coming to rest facing north. The Frahm pickup spun and collided with a tree where it came to rest, facing south. Debris from the collisions also caused damage to a residential window, hand railing, and a vinyl fence.

SCAT took Frahm to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Frahm’s GMC pickup and the parked Buick were totaled. The Chevy Equinox sustained $5000 in damages. A vinyl fence owned by Harold Van Veldhuizen sustained $500 in damages. A residential window owned by Aleida Rust sustained $2,000 in damage, and a hand railing owned by Central Condominiums sustained $1000 in damage.
