Sheldon Woman Injured Trying To Avoid Collision With Deer

George, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was taken to the hospital as the result of a single-vehicle crash west of George Tuesday morning.

A report just released by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Teighlor Lonning, of Sheldon was eastbound in the 3500 block of 210th Street about 10:45 Tuesday morning, when a deer entered the roadway. Deputies say Lonning swerved to miss the deer and entered the south ditch.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lonning was transported to Avera Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Deputies say her car, a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, is expected to be a total loss.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lyon County Ambulance and Warntjes Paint & Body of George.
