Sioux City Man Arrested For Rural Larchwood Burglary

Larchwood, Iowa — A Sioux City man has been arrested in connection with a burglary that happened earlier this month at a rural Larchwood farm.

According to court records, the charge against 59-year-old Durant Blaine Kruger of Sioux City stem from an incident that took place on the afternoon of April 4th at a farm on Birch Avenue near Larchwood.

According to authorities, Kruger is accused of illegally entering the property, then entering an occupied outbuilding and started removing antiquated farm tools and placing the ones he wanted aside, when he was interrupted by the property owner.

Deputies say the property owner allegedly observed Kruger emerge from the outbuilding carrying a pitchfork belonging to the property owner. When confronted by the property owner about the pitchfork, authorities say Kruger reportedly failed to respond, but rather stuck the pitchfork in the ground and began walking away.

Court records indicate that Kruger and the property owner did not know each other, and that the Kruger did not have permission to be on the property.

Following an investigation, Lyon County authorities filed 3rd Degree Burglary charges on April 16th. A warrant for Kruger’s arrest was issued on April 21st, and Kruger was arrested on April 25th, according to online court records.

3rd Degree Burglary is a Class D Felony and, if convicted, Kruger could face up to five years in prison on the charge.
