Sioux City Woman Arrested For Felony OWI, Assaulting Officers

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux City woman was arrested Friday evening, accused of driving drunk for the third time and spitting on arresting officers.

Court records indicate witnesses reported seeing 41-year-old Jewelia Drapeau operating a motor vehicle. When Sioux Center Police Officers arrived, they say they observed Drapeau seated in the driver’s seat of a 2006 Ford Fusion.

Court records indicate that Drapeau appeared to the officers to be under the influence, and allegedly failed multiple field sobriety tests. As she was being arrested on the Felony Operating While Impaired charge, officers say she spit on two Sioux Center officers, leading to the Assault on Law Enforcement charge, which is a Serious Misdemeanor. Sioux County Jail records indicate she was also charged with Interference With Official Acts, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, having an Open Container of Alcohol and Driving Under Suspension.
