Three Law Enforcement Officers Assaulted In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — Three law enforcement officers were assaulted in Sheldon over the weekend during an assault call.

Sheldon Police Chief Scott Burtch says that on Saturday afternoon, one of their officers and two O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an assault on Park Street (Highway 18) in Sheldon.

The chief says 35-year-old David James Halbur of Sheldon was arrested and faces five charges. Burtch says their officer was allegedly bitten by Hulber.

According to O’Brien County Jail records, Halbur was charged with three counts of Assault on a Peace Officer and one count of Assault, both serious misdemeanors; as well as one count of Interference With Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor.

Jail records say Hulber was released the next morning.
