Trio Jailed After Report Of Armed Robbery In Hartley

Hartley, Iowa — Three individuals are in custody following a Saturday armed robbery in Hartley.

Hartley Police Chief Joel Hengeveld says Hartley officers responded to a citizen report of a suspicious vehicle and possible Burglary. While speaking to the citizen, a 911 call of an Armed Robbery was received from 220 North 1st Avenue West in Hartley.

Hengeveld says charges of 1st Degree Burglary have been filed against a trio of individuals. He identifies them as: James Bainbridge of Sioux Rapids; Casey Tuttle of Spencer; and Joe Ripka of Paullina.

At last report, all three remained in the O’Brien County Jail on a $25-thousand cash or surety bond.

Chief Hengeveld says the investigation into the incident is continuing, and additional arrests and charges are pending. He says this incident was NOT a random act, and he says it doesn’t appear that the public was, or will be, in any danger.
