Two People Taken To Hospital After Accident

Rock Rapids, Iowa — Two people were taken to a hospital and both of their vehicles were totaled after an accident on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, near Rock Rapids.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8:00 a.m., 38-year-old Jeandre Swanepol of Rock Rapids was driving her 2005 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on Highway 9. They say 63-year-old Jeffrey Wilke of Lester was driving his 1999 Pontiac Montana eastbound on Highway 9.

The report says that due to snow and ice on the roadway, Swanepol lost control of her vehicle, which entered the eastbound lane and struck Wilke’s vehicle.

Both Swanepol and Wilke were transported to Avera Hospital in Rock Rapids. Their injuries were termed “non-life-threatening.”

They tell us that both vehicles were a total loss.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the Lyon County Ambulance Squad and the Rock Rapids Fire Department assisted with the response to the accident.
