Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council met Tuesday to receive the list of City Manager Candidates recommended by the Search Committee. All six of the recommended candidates have requested confidentiality, therefore the council went into closed session for their discussions. The Council will now decide on how to proceed with the interviews. This includes the type of questions they will ask, and who will actually conduct the interviews.
The Sheldon Park and Recreation Board met earlier in the day to discuss approval of the vendors who will be in the City Park for Celebration Days. Earlier this year the Sheldon City Council approved the policy that “All vendors at a Sheldon Park must have approval by the Sheldon Park and Recreation Board to sell food, beverages, merchandise and any non-related park activities.” At the last Council meeting Harold Postma raised the question of whether or not the vendors for Celebration Days had been approved by the Park and Rec Board. At Tuesday’s meeting the Board voted their approval of 55 Arts and Crafts Vendors, Ten food Vendors and 16 Farmers Market Vendors. Farmers Market will be moving from their regular location to the City Park for Labor Day.
