Sheldon, Iowa — With Black Friday, and Cyber Monday behind us, it’s time to look at giving back with #GivingTuesday, which is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving each year.
The goal of #GivingTuesday is to give back to others, whether it is financially or by donating time or resources to your favorite charity. #GivingTuesday is fueled by the power of social media, but that is not the only method that can be used to give back or to educate others about the needs of the charity.
#GivingTuesday started in 2012, and is now a GLOBAL movement. In 2015, 71 countries participated, and over $116-million was raised via online donations alone.
Once again this year, Northwest Iowa Community College is participating in #GivingTuesday, and wishes to remind everyone that donating to the NCC Foundation is easy:
- You can mail a check, or set up a pledge to the NCC Foundation at

- Text “NCC to 41444 to give electronically.
- If you’re a Thrivent Financial member, the NCC Foundation is available to receive Thrivent Choice dollars.
- Use smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com and choose the NCC Foundation as the recipient. A portion of your sales will go to the NCC Foundation (Christmas shop AND help the NCC Foundation simultaneously!)
- Selling grain? The NCC Foundation accepts gifts of grain
Donations to the NCC Foundation will go directly towards helping students in need of financial assistance.
