Sheldon, Iowa — The figures are in, and over $16,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society at the recent O’Brien County Relay for Life.

According to American Cancer Society O’Brien County spokesperson Cindy Runger, the 2020 O’Brien County Relay For Life raised $16,722 for the American Cancer Society’s advocacy, education, patient services, and research programs.

She says the event was held Monday, August 3rd at the Sheldon City Park with a picnic and parade. Twenty-two survivors assembled at the Sheldon High School parking lot for a short program and drive by Fieldcrest , the Christian Retirement Home, and down the traditional parade route.

Runger says three hundred forty-one luminarias were on display at the enclosed shelter house in the park.

She says the Relay For Life committee members would like to thank businesses and individuals of O’Brien County and the surrounding area for their generous support.
