5th Annual O’Brien County Career Day At NCC

Sheldon, Iowa — Sophomores from four area high schools converged on Northwest Iowa Comunity College Friday for the 5th annual O’Brien County Career Day.

The day began with sophomores from Sheldon, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, South O’Brien and Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn-Remsen Union high schools touring Sheldon businesses Maintainer, Agrivision, Mill Creek, C-S Asgrow, JTV, Rosenboom Machine & Tool, White Wolf Web and Ziegler Cat, as well as DK Plastics. As part of the tours, the students heard from the companies about the many career opportunities here in O’Brien County that are available after graduation from high school and college.

Following the completion of the tours, the students headed to the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center (LLRC), on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College, where they had lunch, then participated in a Business Hub, and took part in two different panel discussions talking about a number of locally-available career opportunities.
