Accounting Firm Highlights Tax Changes

Sheldon, Iowa — It’s the first week of April. Normally that announcement would strike fear into the hearts of procrastinators all across the United States, as tax day is only around 10 days away. But this year, like last year, will be a little different.

Shane Jager, an accountant with the Cain-Ellsworth firm in Sheldon tells us the due date has again been pushed back for individual tax filers.

Jager tells us that the Iowa Department of Revenue has also changed their due date to June 1st. The first quarter 2021 estimate due date for Iowa has also been changed to June 1st.

Jager tells us that there are some new rules about how unemployment benefits are taxed federally.

He says Congress also changed the rules due to the pandemic and made it possible to take a distribution from an IRA without penalty for early withdrawal.

Jager says for more information, feel free to call Cain Ellsworth at (712) 324-4614.
