Alvord Days Are This Friday And Saturday

Alvord, Iowa — This is a popular weekend for town festivals. In addition to festivals in Sibley and Sioux Center, Alvord is also celebrating Alvord Days this weekend.

It starts this Friday night at 5 p.m. with inflatables at the park. The beer garden opens at that time too. A burger feed will be served by the Alvord Fire Department from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Kids games can be played in the park from 8 until 9:30 p.m. From 8 until midnight, there will be live music by Kruse’n Karaoke. A fireworks show will be at 9:30 p.m. And Shari’s food truck will be available throughout the evening.

Then on Saturday, things get going with a youth baseball tournament at 8 a.m. That goes all day until 9 at night. At 9 in the morning, the volleyball tournament starts. The beer garden opens again at noon. At 12:30 it’s time for the water fight, with a kids water fight to follow. A flea market goes from 10 to 3. At 3 p.m., there will be a kids painting class with Carol Childress.

The Alvord Betterment Club puts on a pork loin meal with the help of the Lyon County Pork Producers from 5 to 7:30 p.m. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be live music by the Thrillbillies. And Shari’s food truck will be available all day.
