April 2025 Ends Slightly Warmer, Drier Than Normal

Sheldon, Iowa — The month of April was just a little warmer and a little drier than normal in Sheldon.

According to the weather facts collected by KIWA Radio, the highest high was 82 degrees, recorded on April 28th. The lowest high temperature was 41 degrees, recorded on both April 2nd and April 7th.

The lowest low in the month was 19, also on April 7th. The highest low was 54 on April 17th.

The average high for the month was 61. The normal is 58. The average low was 35. The normal is also 35. The average temperature as-a-whole for the month was 48 degrees, and normally it’s 47.

We received 2.14 inches of precipitation for April 2025. A normal April sees 2.46, so we were below normal for the month by 0.32 inches. Year-to-date precip has been 4.94 inches. Normal year-to-date precip would be 5.85 inches, so we’re 0.91 inches below normal on the year. The day with the most precip was April 2nd, when we received 0.58 inches of rain.

We received no snow in April. Normal snowfall for April is 1.9 inches, so we ended the month 1.9 inches below normal. Since September first, we’ve received only 12.6 inches. Normal would be 36.8, so we end the snow season 24.2 inches below normal for snowfall.
